Presenter’s Bio:  Charles Jung

Charles’ passion for personal injury advocacy started when he enrolled in an insurance law course taught by Jim Vigmond. Charles was captivated by the idea of being a trial lawyer who advocated on behalf of injured individuals. He managed to pass the course and sat down with Jim to learn more about being a personal injury lawyer. The rest is history. In 2015, Charles joined Oatley Vigmond as an articling student and was hired as an associate after being called to the bar. Charles joined the partnership in 2025.

Charles' Professional Involvement

Charles is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, Advocates’ Society and Ontario Trial Lawyers Association. Charles has a particular interest in the art and science of trial advocacy. He has attended numerous programs and conferences over the years – the highlight of which was the Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop. Charles has experience co-counseling jury trials to verdict.

ORA Presenter:  Laurie Davis, Director of Advocacy and Stakeholder Relations

Laurie Davis served as Executive Director of the Ontario Rehab Alliance (ORA) since shortly after its formation in 2011. In January 2025 she assumed a more focused role as Director of Advocacy and Stakeholder Relations. In this role she will continue to provide advocacy leadership to the association and serve as our representative to government, the regulator and other stakeholder associations and contacts.  Laurie has been instrumental in shaping the ORA’s culture, mission and voice.  She is inspired by ORA members’ integrity, passion for justice, commitment to client care and the degree of collaboration for collective good that they bring to the association’s work.  Previous to her work at the ORA Laurie had a multi-decade management consulting practice focusing latterly on the emerging private practice rehab sector. She has served on multiple boards in the arts, human services and health care, including  two terms as Chair of the Board of the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay. She continues to take occasional consulting work and is an occasionally published writer. 

ORA Guest Presenter:  Ralph Palumbo, Government Relations Consultant

With a wealth of experience in strategic planning, policy development and the operation of professional organizations, Ralph Palumbo offers his insight to Hillcrest’s clients with more than 20 years’ experience in government relations, with his experience as Director of Government Relations for the Certified General Accountants Association of Ontario and the insight he gained as Ontario Vice President for the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC).

Government relations and advocacy have been the focus of Ralph’s work for the past two decades. He has held senior leadership roles in private consulting firms, as well as in a range of not-for-profit and professional organizations. In these positions, he has been an effective advocate for his clients and established a successful track record working with the Ontario government to develop and implement policies by crafting and executing comprehensive public affairs strategies, where he excelled as a media spokesperson.

ORA Host:  Nakema Walker, Board Director & ORA Black Network Committee Member

Nakema is Service Director, Toronto and Peel, Bartimaeus Rehabilitation Services, Inc. Prior to this role she was an RSW for 7 years.  Her major is in mental health, with minors in Criminal Justice, as well as drug and alcohol abuse counselling.  She also worked with individuals with mental health issues and special needs, and with male young offenders in custody. She is a member in good standing with the Vocational Rehabilitation Association of Canada (VRA). She is passionate about racial equity, and enjoys volunteering at her children’s school, giving presentations about black history.
